Lindex, Sweden optimised their
e-commerce warehouse through simulation
When Lindex out grew its warehouse for its e-commerce stocks Constructor helped plan the layout and article placement for the new warehouse.
Constructor's Analysis & Simulation Tool, C-WIS, was used to design the optimal layout and then to configure the optimal material handling (incoming deliveries, picking, packing) in terms of processing times, inventory equipment and flow of goods. This simulation was based on historical order dat,a where article data, order data and delivery was imported from their WMS.
Simulation of various scenarios were performed with different article placements and work methods being evaluated. The placement of the articles was analyzed based on business, size, and promotional articles.
The C-WIS report included detailed information about the total time and mileage, handling time, waiting time and administrative time for the material flow. Then the results of all scenarios where analyzed and the most efficient warehouse layout and article placement was decided upon.
Continuous optimisation of stock
The C-WIS simulation also indicates when the maximum capacity will be reached for the current warehouse layout. By simulating an increasing of the order data and receipts, Lindex can today already plan for future changes that will be required in their warehouse, ensuring productivity and reliability into the future.
